M, d. circa 1802
Biography | Robert was a revolutionary war vertern although his service seems to have been less than brilliant in that he was charged with desertion. In 1785, Robert purchased 482 acres of land along the South Branch of the Potomac River in Hampshire County, West Virginia. At that time Hampshire County was part of Virginia. In 1792, he purchased a lot in the nearby town of Springfield, West Virginia. He was a carpenter and farmer. Robert sold his property in Springfield in December 1799 and went into Pennsylvania. He was in Pickaway County, Ohio as early as 1800. Tradition has it that a storm killed Robert and several members of his family. This seems to have happend in Pickaway County, Ohio since his sale of property occurred there on March 4, 1805. His wife, Letty, was not mentioned in related papers, so it seems likely that she also died at the same time. Letitia Ross, His daughter, was administrator. |
Marriage | He married Lettice Spillman. |
