Robert Ross

Biography | In 1761, Robert, leased land in Hampshire County, West Virginia (Virginia) on the Potomac River, one and one-half miles below the mouth of the Cacapon River. He lived in Hampshire County until about 1782 moving according to family tradition to Pennsylvania. He probably lived in Washington County. Robert left Pennsylvania from Pittsburg on a raft with a group that included his son Robert around 1800. He ended up in a part of Ross County, Ohio that became Pickaway County. John Cook was administrator along with Genet Ross in the settlement of Robert's estate. John also made a $400 bond in the settlment of Robert Jr.'s property. The settlement of both Robert's estates ocurred at the same time and the papers were filed together in Chillicothe probate court in Ross county, Ohio. |
